This is my current running total owed in student loans.
I was approved to have $20,000 of student loan debt forgiven under Biden-Harris Administration’s Student Loan Forgiveness Program in 2022 as a Pell Grant recipient. That was, of course, before SCOTUS blocked it. The one-time student loan forgiveness would have basically wiped out my total college debt and allowed me to continue attending school to earn my BA in either Information Technology or Computer Science.
I don’t feel comfortable taking on additional student loans because of an unstable job market and an unpredictable U.S. Education Department set of policies on higher education borrowing.
I’m a stay-at-home-dad who takes care of two kids under 13. I’m also a freelancer who does gigs in technology from time to time depending on how they work out with our family schedules.
This is all in an effort to plan ahead for the day that my kids no longer need me at home full-time. It is something I’m trying my best to do while others play politics with my future and that of 45 million other students in debt.
